The blue mists swirled over the pale water. It was so thick, you could have cut it with a knife. A creaking of wood and sloshing of a boat's wake was heard, then a large black ship glided through the fog. 30 or so men clambored all over it, pulling ropes, checking lines.
A thump was heard as Captain Barbossa leapt down the stairs. His eyes were a steely grey, and searched the vast expanse of watter with lethal cunning. He leaned over the side of the ship, looking far ahead. Their route, so far, had taken them northeast, towards a handful of barren islands known to few, but something in the distance caught the captain's eye.
He motioned Bo'sun over to his side, and together they stared at the grey shape. "What do you think it be?" the captain questioned. Neither spoke of it for a moment, but then Bo-sun broke the silence. "I think it be an island."
| For too long I've been parched of thirst and unable to quench it. Too long I've been starving to death and haven't died. I feel nothing. Not the wind on my face nor the spray of the sea. Nor the warmth of a woman's flesh.
